Black Stars head coach, Milovan Rajevac, has explained the criteria for selecting his Black Stars squad.
He was speaking at a press conference to announce the Black Stars squad for the last two games of this round of World Cup qualifiers. Ghana will face Ethiopia and South Africa aiming to reach the play off round of the CAF World Cup qualifiers.
As usual the Black Stars squad has generated a fair amount of debate, leading the journalists present to query the Serbian trainer on what went into deciding the current crop of players to lead the nation to Qatar 2022.
Speaking through a translator, Rajevac was very direct.
“It is important that every player must meet my requirements”
He then went on to explain how he came about the balance of the squad,
“It is important to have competition, I must have at least 2 players for each position”
Form was also a key factor as the Serbian emphasized only players in good form would be called up, lastly he explained that his tactical plans were the most important
“Each position has different requirements, and if the player can deliver, contribute, and meet my expectations. Then the player can be invited to the national team”
Ghana will face Ethiopia on 11th November, followed by the group finale against group leaders, South Africa.
