AshantiGold head coach, Ernest Thompson Quartey, believes the Coronavirus vaccine played a part in his side’s 1-1 draw with Karela United in the Ghana Premier League.
The two teams met on Match Week two of the 2021/2022 season with the game ending in a stalemate.
According to the former Ebusua Dwarfs coach, the timing of the vaccination and the game put his players at a disadvantage.
He says the team did not get enough resting time ahead of the encounter and thus took a toll on the team.
“We were determined to grab out first home win this season, unfortunately for us we got a point from the game due to some reasons. We are not taking anything away from Karela, but the period at which we took the Covid jab put us at a disadvantage”, he told Happy FM.
“We struggled to keep up to the tempo of the game because we didn’t get enough rest to recover after the vaccination.
AshantiGold are fifth on the Premier League table with 4 points from two games played.
The Miners will face King Faisal in Match Week 3 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
