The Eagles won their second Premier League London derby on eighteenth occasion after beating Tottenham Hotspurs by three goals to zero in September this season, Jordan Ayew got the early goal at Selhurst Park Stadium last Monday night.
Ayew has said that his fine finish against Arsenal may have proved people wrong, as he thanked the fans for their support at Selhurst Park, the Ghanaian marksman who featured in both legs of his team play-off at Kumasi and Abuja last month had a superb performance last Monday night.
Ayew was thrilled with the atmosphere in South London, as the fans gave him a rapturous reception following his substitution late on, after the game he expressed his gratitude to the fans as he said, “[The standing ovation] was nice. I was surprised, but obviously they have always been good to me, the fans, and I need to thank them as well.”
The Gunners’ top-four hopes took a significant dent at Palace, a result which leaves Tottenham in fourth place after the Premier League weekend, which Mikel Arteta has apologised to the fans of the club, “We were poor, especially in the first half. I apologise to our supporters.”
The Ghanaian striker who has failed to score for both club and country for the time being spoke to Crystal Palace Press, when he was quizzed about his performance against colleague country man Thomas Partey in a game which was their first challenge after both contributed to the country’s qualification to Qatar.
He was happy after his long awaited goal for his club and revealed that, ““It’s amazing, “I told the guys: I’ve never played against Arsenal and won 3-0 before. It’s amazing. This season has been really, really good. We’ve enjoyed it and hopefully we will build on it for next year.”
