Karim Benzema’s hat-trick inspired Real Madrid’s stunning 3-1 win on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge and Thomas Tuchel of Chelsea has claimed that his side has no chance of advancing to the Champions League (CL) semi-final.
Tuchel’s side were pitchpoled by Benzema’s brilliant treble at Stamford Bridge and the shell-shocked Blues boss conceded the holders’ reign is almost certainly over, even though his side eliminated Madrid last season to play the final of the competition.
The defending champions, Chelsea could force extra-time with a two-goal victory in the quarterfinal second leg on 12 April at the Bernabéu since away goals no longer counting double in the Champions League stage but he still has no confidence in his team to gain qualification over Carlo Ancelotti.

Tuchel made an emphatic statement to the press when he revealed in a statement when he was quizzed if Chelsea could still go through to the semis of the competition, he said, “No. Not at the moment. Because we have to find our level back. I don’t know where it is since the international break. We can’t demand ourselves to turn it around if this is our performance. How many clubs won with what we need? Perhaps it is only realistic to answer like this. If we keep playing like this we will lose at Southampton on Saturday and then we will get hammered at Bernabéu.”
