The defending European Champions Chelsea have a bigger mountain to climb when they visit Santiago Bernabéu for the first time in the history of the club in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal.
Real Madrid who happens to be the all-time winner of the competition has already had one foot in the semifinal after securing a stunning 3-1 win in the first leg at Stamford Bridge but the midfield general for Los Blancos, Casemiro insisted they won’t fall into the trap of believing their Champions League quarterfinal against Chelsea is already wrapped up.
Both teams won their domestic league games over the weekend so they are all motivated in the competition with a mentality to come out victorious, Chelsea was the best scoring team in the Premier League when they thrashed Southampton in 6 goals thriller.
The blues had got the better of Real Madrid in the semi-finals last season and would be hoping to repeat last season’s performance as they play their first competitive fixture at the Spanish giant’s venue.
Casemiro told a news conference on Monday, “We all heard what Thomas Tuchel said. We don’t buy it. We know that it will be a tough game. They are defending champions and we won’t take this game lightly, I can assure you of that.”
