Harry Kane’s 250th Spurs goal against tenacious guests Wolverhampton Wanderers FC on Saturday afternoon at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium marked the 1,000th home goal in the Premier League for the home team.
Kane has surpassed the feat of an experienced Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero, who had 184 goals for a single Premier League club.
After 10 years in the Premier League, the English captain has now scored 185 goals for Tottenham Hotspur, putting him at the top of the all-time goals a player in the tournament scored.
Harry Kane will always be remembered by Tottenham supporters as one of their all-time greatest goal scorers, especially since Tottenham put up a lacklustre effort in the first half until Kane’s magic struck in the 65th minute of the second half.
Spurs took the lead after a terrible first half by the home team thanks to a superb play by Perisic at the front post and the flick-on that led to Kane’s goal.
With two wins and one tie in their first three Premier League games, Tottenham has started the season unblemished, since 2004–2005 and2005–2006, they haven’t done it in consecutive campaigns.
Wolves’ starting lineup had seven Portuguese players, the joint-most players from a single nation named in a starting XI in Premier League history, excluding the Home Nations.
Wolves, led by Bruno Lage, have gone 10 games without a league victory following their defeat against Tottenham, however, the team led by Antonio Conte has now won seven of its last eight Premier League games played at home, including each of the previous five.
After three games played, Tottenham tops the Premier League table, and the away team, with a point after three games played, stands at 16th position on the league log.
Conte acknowledged they had a poor first half and needed to improve in the second half in an interview with Sky Sports following the game.
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte said, “Half-time was a moment to analyse with players to improve the situation. We struggled in the first half – we played against a fast team. We suffered together but Hugo Lloris didn’t make a save. I tried to fix it in the second half with tactical aspects but we had the energy to press high and create chances. We played with important intensity and good pressure. The second half was difficult for Wolves.”
