Kumasi Asante Kotoko travelled to Omdurman, Sudan, to play a preseason friendly against Al Hilal before the start of the season in their respective nations.
The management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko cancelled their trip to Turkey due to a visa application at the Turkish Embassy, they had to reschedule an international friendly with the Sudanese club in order to compete in the CAF Champions League.
After selling off their excellent left-back, Imoro Ibrahim, Kotoko confirmed on their official social media handles that they had scheduled a preseason-friendly game with Al Hilal Omdurman.
Imoro Ibrahim joined the two-time CAF Champions League runners-up (1987 and 1992), who announced his signing on August 14, 2022, after he excelled with the Black Galaxies and won the Ghana Premier League the previous year.
Since Imoro Ibrahim’s transfer and the need to arrange an international friendly due to their upcoming matches against RC Kadiogo and St. Georges, respectively, the relationship between the two clubs, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Al Hilal Omdurman, has grown more intense.
Kotoko underwent preseason training in the capital with their dependable assistant coach, Abdul Gazelle, in charge, but have since signed an experienced Burkinabè trainer, Seydou Zerbo, before departing for Sudan on Saturday night.
All of the players that began when Kotoko last faced Al Hilal on December 23, 2020, have left the club, according to research done by the editors of www.atspo.com, although present, Ganiyu hasn’t travelled.
Christopher Nettey, Yussif Mubarik, Emmanuel Sarkodie, Kwame Baah, Abdul Ganiyu, and Osman Ibrahim are the only 18 players who are still under contract with the club, they also travelled with newcomers like Enoch Morrison, Zézé, Mukwala, and other players.
Due to injury, Patrick Asmah, Georges Mfegue, Franck Etouga, and three other players will not be travelling to Sudan with the Preseason 22 team.
Seed Al-Balad made the Porcupine Warriors’ journey to Sudan an exciting one by giving them a warm welcome on the Twitter handle of the Omdurman-based club.
“Welcome, friends! See you on Tuesday at Al Hilal Stadium!” as Kotoko landed in Sudan, a caption was updated on Al Hilal’s official Twitter account.
