Former West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) and Black Galaxies staunch defender Konadu moved to Accra Hearts of Oak a few weeks ago, and the Ghana transfer deadline expired last night, leaving Konadu as a registered player for Samuel Boadu’s squad.
The highly-rated central defender was reported to be bound to a three-year deal with Accra Hearts of Oak when he neglected an offer from Kumasi Asante Kotoko, reports gathered by the editors of www.atspo.com can reveal that Konadu’s player agent has a good relationship with Togbe Afede XIV, hence the need to give Konadu to Hearts of Oak ahead of Kotoko.
Joe Abu Salam, Konadu Yiadom’s player agent, has been trending on various social media handles after giving an interview on Asempa FM on Tuesday morning after the Ghana Premier League deadline closed at midnight (GMT) on Monday, August 22, 2022.
He emphasised his friendship with Togbe Afede XIV, the bankroller and principal shareholder, which resulted in the player signing for Accra Hearts rather than Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Salam stated, “Kotoko was ready to pay for Konadu Yiadom but I blocked the deal because of the relationship I have with Hearts of Oak.”
The player is at the moment at the camp of Black Galaxies which they look forward to eliminating their Nigeria opponent in a two-tie CHAN Qualifiers but his agent is furious in Ghana about monetary issues of his client’s contract with his new club.
Salam told the supporters and management of Accra Hearts of Oak in an interview with Asempa FM that the trustworthy defender would not be able to play in a league game for the club even though they had officially registered him with the Ghana Football Association.
He was emphatic, “Odotei should quit football. He doesn’t understand football. Today he is calling me greed. He should go and do his politics. I am sorry for Odotei. This boy (Konadu Yiadom) will not play for Hearts of Oak despite signing.”
In response to claims that he regrets giving the player to Accra Hearts of Oak rather than Kumasi Asante Kotoko, he revealed, “I regret not giving Konadu to Kotoko. Everything shows I made a mistake. I really regret and should have taken the money from Kotoko. [Kotoko Chief Executive] Nana Yaw even told me Hearts have no money to pay the boy.”
