The Black Galaxies have played three CAF CHAN Qualifiers games and now have a better chance of qualifying for the competition in Algeria next year.
The first choice for Annor Walker’s team in the ongoing CHAN Qualifiers is Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad, who recently agreed to a new deal that will keep him with the team through the conclusion of the 2022–23 season.
Danlad maintained the goal post for Black Galaxies for both of their home and away matches against Benin, and he was there yesterday at Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
After denying the Nigerians a goal with a fantastic save, Kotoko supporters dubbed him the King of Clean Sheets and he is currently trending on several social media platforms.
The Ghanaian superpower Kumasi Asante Kotoko was named the best defensive team at the end of the season thanks to Danlad’s ability to keep 12 clean sheets and allow just 12 goals to be scored, the technical staff of the Black Galaxies also named him to the squad for the qualifying matches.
Danlad’s excellent league form was transferred to the Black Galaxies when he kept clean sheets in two games against Benin, he continued his outstanding goal-post performance against the Super Eagles B, which deserves praise.
The Porcupine’s young goalkeeper gave in two goals to Qatar in an international friendly in Australia, but he handled himself well in front of the goalpost against the Nigerians.
Just after victory over the Nigerians, he responded to his recent form on his official Twitter account, he wrote, “Great Character Clean Sheet with a Win unto the next game.”
After this excellent performance, it implies that he can join the senior team, Black Stars of Ghana, in Qatar since in June 2022, he received a late invite to join the Black Stars squad for Japan’s 2022 Kirin Cup soccer tournament.
And it’s a great impact for his club, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, since they will be competing in the CAF Champions League, in which they play RC Kadiogo in the preliminary stage, and they look to defend the BetPawa Premier League in the coming season.
