The Black Galaxies defeated the Super Eagles B by a score of 2-0 on Sunday at Cape Coast Stadium, but they want to rebound at MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
In the early minutes of the second half, captain of Accra Hearts of Oak Mohammed Alhassan was fouled inside the penalty box and referee Issah Mouhamed from Benin called for a penalty, the Ghanaians took the lead after hot attacker Afriyie Barnieh successfully converted the penalty kick.
Suraj Mohammed assisted by Real Tamale United’s David Abagna scored the second goal for the Black Galaxies by quickly slipping the ball past goalie Adewale Adeyinka.
In a Post-Game Press conference, the Nigerian team’s coach criticised the penalty the Black Galaxies received from the Benin centre, he described the penalty assessed against them as being unfair but stated that they would strive hard to make up for it in the return match.
Regarding the penalty imposed on Salisu Yusuf’s team, he said, “The penalty was really a big blow to my team because there was a commotion there. The referee was a little bit harsh on that penalty and that got our players arguing.”
He emphasised once more that his team is capable of making things right when they host the Black Galaxies in Nigeria on September 3, 2022, at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
“The World Cup has come and gone for us Nigerians because Ghana qualified, we drew in Kumasi, and we drew again in Nigeria by a one-goal margin, and they qualified. So now they are ahead again and it’s football and I believe we can work hard to cancel out two goals and everything can happen.” Salisu revealed to Nigeria’s journalists that were present at the Post-Match Press Conference at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium after Sunday’s game.
Salisu made some changes to his team ahead of the game against the Black Galaxies at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, with Eugene Ossy Martins replacing Andy Okpe in the starting lineup and Enyinnaya Kazie Godswill joining the reserves bench.
