Eric ten Hag, a three-time Eredivisie winner, topped other top-flight managers, Antonio Conte and Gary O’Neil – of Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth, respectively – to the award after steering the Reds to victory against Leicester and Arsenal.
He has walked in the footsteps of former Manchester United managers such as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was named Manager of the Month in February 2019. They are the only managers at the club to have received this accolade since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
The first of United’s September successes happened on September 1st, when the Reds travelled to Leicester in pursuit of a third straight Premier League victory, having defeated Liverpool and Southampton at the end of August.
Jadon Sancho scored the crucial goal at the King Power Stadium to extend the undefeated record to a 1-0 victory, and this result was followed up just three days later, this time with an Old Trafford victory against Arsenal, who were previously undefeated as the early leaders in the standings.
When the Premier League announced the prize on their Twitter page, they captioned the post with the words ‘creating his vision,’ a tribute to the work that Ten Hag has undertaken at Manchester United.
Since the arrival of Eric ten Hag, Manchester United has had a strong attitude.
