Thomas Teye Partey scored a fantastic goal for Arsenal in a North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Sports Stadium.
Arsenal surged four points ahead at the top of the Premier League and handed 10-man Tottenham their first loss of the season in a gripping North London derby, winning 3-1.
To clinch the victory for the Gunners, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka both scored. With this victory, Mikel Arteta became the third manager in club history to defeat Tottenham at home in each of his first three managerial outings, after Terry Neill in 1977-1979 and George Morrell in 1909-1911.
After five appearances, Thomas Partey, who scored twice for his team in 24 games last season, has scored his first goal of the 2022–2023 campaign.
Martin Odegaard revealed that Thomas Partey’s spectacular goal, which opened the scoring in the 3-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, was something that was created right there on the training field after the Ghanaian hammered home an inch-perfect curling effort from 25 yards out 20 minutes into the north London derby to put Arsenal on the winning track.
The captain said that Mikel Arteta and his coaching team had planned to set up that shooting chance, which was executed well since they had anticipated that Partey would be given time and space by our opponents.
In a post-match conference, Martin Odegaard stated, “It was a great goal. We knew before the game he was going to be free in those areas and we practiced that a lot, to find him in those areas, and he made a great shot. I think he played a great game as well so a lot of credit to him and of course the team.”
The supporters in Ghana are raising concerns about Thomas Partey not featuring in friendly games for the Black Stars against Brazil and Nicaragua in the last international break, in which it was reported that he got injured at the camp of Ghana and left the team before their two friendlies.
