The 2007 Turkish Footballer of the Year responded to rumours that he was eager to play for the Ghana Black Stars in Qatar in 2022.
Stephen Appiah updated his Twitter handle @StephenAppiah on August 29th, 2022 to deny the reports being circulated. He declared, “This was an advert I shot in Thailand for Vitamilk oooo. Retired 10 years ago and I am not turning back. Just ignore any such news. “
However, Appiah’s Black Stars teammate Kwadwo Asamoah has officially announced his retirement from football on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
They were teammates for Ghana’s Black Stars and during the country’s finest performance in the World Cup in South Africa when they were knocked out in the quarterfinals by Uruguay.
The news of Kwadwo Asamoah’s retirement has been discussed on various radio stations in Ghana, where the officials of the Ghana Football Association appreciated his effort for the Ghana Black Stars at various tournaments he appeared for Ghana.
Even after his retirement, Stephen Appiah continued to model exemplary leadership for his teammates. He described the state in which he was when he was playing with Kwadwo Asamoah on the pitch.
After Kwadwo Asamoah confirmed his retirement from football official, the Ghanaian international, who was capped 67 times and scored 15 goals for the Black Stars, refreshed his Twitter account.
