Accra Hearts of Oak Board Member Thomas Kwesi Esso has commanded the club’s supporters to express their remorse to the two members of the board who were assaulted last Sunday at Accra Sports Stadium.
Thomas Esso urged the supporters once more to use the proper football channels to express their grievances and to refrain from using violence to resolve their issues.
A 3-0 deficit against Real Club de Bamako on Sunday, October 16, 2022, was too much for Accra Hearts of Oak to recoup, as they were knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup.
On various social media networks, many fans presumed that the team could have turned the deficit approximately. They were seen on tape last Sunday deflating the tyres of Vincent Odotei Sowah’s vehicle and attacking him.
At the Accra Sports Stadium’s VIP stands last Sunday, Vincent Odotei Sowah and the fans’ leader, Elvis Herman Hesse, physically exchanged words. To prevent a fight between the two people, observers had to separate them.
Esso condemned the actions of the fans in an interview with Odiasempa Kwame Oware on Happy FM Wamputu Sports on Tuesday.
As Thomas Esso stated, “I want to condemn in no uncertain terms what happened on Sunday between the supporters of the club and the two Board Members who were kept hostage. We saw viral videos and pictures of properties that were destroyed, which is uncalled for. We have laws that govern the club and the country as a whole, and there are proper procedures supporters of the club can use to get their problems solved. “
The Board Member preached for peace to prevail amongst the supporters and the decision-making body of the club, and he advised the leaders of the supporters to smoke peace pipes to help the club achieve respected achievements in the years ahead.
“I would entreat the supporters to go back and reflect on their actions and come to render a sincere apology for their actions so we can have a peaceful club.” The Board Member said in an interview with Happy FM.
