Togbe Afede XIV, the president of the Asogli Traditional Area and the majority shareholder of Accra Hearts of Oak, has vindicated two Board Members, Alhaji Moro Akambi and Vincent Sowah Odotei.
The pair came under fire from the supporters after the team was eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup as they were unable to overcome a 3-0 deficit against Mali’s Real Bamako.
After their elimination last Sunday, the fans were furious. At the Lounge of the Accra Sports Stadium, Vincent Odotei Sowah and Elvis Herman Hesse, the chairman of the National Chapters Committee, engaged in a physical confrontation and verbal abuse.
This tussle involving the supporters’ leadership and the two Board Members continued. The National Chapters Committee (N.C.C) Chairman got an invitation from the Ghana Police Service to attend to a complaint made by Vincent Odotei Sowah against him for being responsible for the damage to his vehicle at the stadium.
But the bankroller of Accra Hearts of Oak at the World Trade Centers Association in Accra last Wednesday, October 19, 2022, it was clear that Akambi and Vincent Odotei were very committed and couldn’t be a sacrifice for Heart of Oak’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup.
Accra Hearts of Oak’s Board of Directors held a press conference to update the public on the club’s current activities. Togbe Afede XIV expressed his admiration for Alhaji Akambi and Vincent Odotei Sowah’s level of dedication to the club’s supporters.
His Royal Majesty Togbe Afede XIV stated, “Somebody is not a regular employee, somebody is not on salary. As a chief, one of the biggest jobs I have is getting people to work for the community selflessly and without the expectation of remuneration. Here I have somebody doing the business activity, Accra Hearts of Oak, without remuneration, spending all his time. He has his own business to run. Sometimes I’m amazed at the level of commitment of these people. “
