Clancy Ata Poku, a sports broadcaster for Sompa FM and a lecturer in research methods and broadcast production at Christian Service University, is constantly prepared to go to court and challenge Kurt Okraku, the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
At Tuesday’s mid-day, Ata Poku tweeted a report of the Ghana Football Association’s being funded by the Ministry of Finance with a whopping $800,000.
The competent sportscaster went on to say that the funds Kurt Okraku and the Ghana Football Association received from the Ministry of Finance covered the costs associated with the Brazil and Nicaragua games.
Three minutes past three after mid-day, the president of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Simon Okraku, spotted in a video enjoying a favourite track from Shatta Wale, had to react to the information released by Ata Poku.
Kurt reacted on his official Twitter account that he had just read after leaving court that the Ghana FA received USD 800,000 from the ministry of finance to pay for two exhibition matches against Brazil and Nicaragua, informing the mass to disregard the information published.
That seemed like not enough. Ignoring the fact that the Ghana Football Association had to officially release a press statement to support the President, Kurt Okraku, against Ata Poku.
On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, Ata Poku made his position clear, he told Bright Kankam Boadu of Pure FM in Kumasi that he would be ready to settle the fact of whether the Association has received money from the Ministry of Finance at the court of law.
Kankam emphasised the legal terms captioned in the press release released by the association, namely, defamation, should the association and its president, Kurt Okraku, proceed to court.
Ata Poku was confident and stated, “Chairman Kankam, as it is written in the laws of Ghana. He who alleges must prove it. “
The host of the Pure FM show questioned Ata Poku’s attendance in court to meet with Kurt Okraku and the Ghana Football Association if he was needed to substantiate the information.
He stated with aggression, “Of course, I will enter an appearance. Defamation is a civil case. I will raise my concerns with them. Let me say that I have spoken to lots of the staff at the FA ever since this thing came out. “
