John Paintsil, a former Ghanaian international, predicts that Ghana will make it all the way to the FIFA World Cup final in Qatar in 2022.
The 41-year-old Paintsil played a significant role in the Ghanaian squad’s historic 2010 campaign, which saw them advance to the competition’s quarterfinals as only the third African team ever to do so.
He thinks that the Black Stars are strong contenders for success in Qatar because of the experience they have gained from their three previous World Cup performances.
John Paintsil, who waved out an Israeli flag during the Black Star’s celebration at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, was a member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Team of the Year in 2009, he was very confident that the Black Stars would play in the grand finals.
He can boost his chances of playing in all World Cup games for the Black Stars at any of the appearances for Ghana; he remains the Ghanaian player to have another variation of his name when they played against Serbia in 2010, Pantsil.
He was confident that the Black Stars of Ghana could qualify out of Group H, not giving much attention to the squads available for Portugal and Uruguay.
John Paintsil had an interview with Joy Sports and with much zeal, said that Ghanaians should get their flags ready because he sees the Black Stars of Ghana playing in the World Cup final in Qatar.
He stated, “Ghana is experienced at the World Cup now, and I believe we [Ghana] will reach the final. I believe it from the bottom of my heart.”
However, since the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, said he was unwilling to give an estimated financial expense for the squad but would announce it when they were eliminated, fans in Ghana have lost faith in the team.
