A partnership agreement of USD 200,000.00 for two years has been announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Ghana Oil Company (GOIL).
The two parties inked a contract making GOIL the official fuel partner of Ghana’s football association at the GOIL Executive Center in Cantonments.
Kurt Edwin Simeon- Okraku, President of GFA, and his Vice President, Mark Addo, were present at the ceremonial unveiling ceremony last Wednesday.
Also, some of the Executive Council Members (EXCO) were in attendance, especially Nana Sarfo Oduro, Samuel Amin Addo, and the vice chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Kwasi Agyemang.
Bernhard Lippert, Technical Director, represented the technical staff of the various national teams in Cantonments last Wednesday.
The entire Board of Directors of GOIL had a feel of the official unveiling at their Executive Center in Cantonments. In roles as Managing Director Hon. Kwame Osei Prempeh, Board Chairman Daniel Reginald Laryea, Angela Forson, and former General Secretary of the ruling political party (NPP), John Boadu.
The importance of the two-year agreement, according to GOIL’s Managing Director Kwame Osei Prempeh, is to make the football industry pleasurable.
Mr. Osei said, “GOIL knows that the passion of the nation is football and therefore, we have never hesitated in supporting the development of the spot.”
He emphasised that Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko, two esteemed clubs, already have agreements in place with the state-owned Ghanaian Oil and Gas Marketing Company, which was established on June 14th, 1960. Furthermore, the Ghana Football Association has finalised an agreement with the company (GOIL).
Mr. Osei revealed, “We are proud to say we are sponsors of Ghana’s two most glamorous clubs, Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, and on this day, we have an agreement between the GOIL Group and the Ghana Football Association as official fuel partners.”
He indicated the benefits of the deal at the official unveiling last Wednesday: “As official fuel partners, GOIL will provide fuel worth a maximum of 100,000 every year to the GFA, as the GFA has also committed to buying fuel worth 100,000 for two years.”
The president of GFA, Kurt Simeon-Okraku, published on his Twitter handle, @kurtokraku, after the ceremony. He tweeted, “A new partner in GOIL. We are excited about this, and Ghana football looks forward to a fruitful partnership. @GOIL_Official”
