Charles Kweku Asampong Taylor, a legendary member of Accra Hearts of Oak, has advised Daniel Afriyie Barnieh to negotiate a calm contract with the continental club masters.
Accra Hearts of Oak have tried several times to move into a new contract agreement with their red-hot striker, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.
The future of Afriyie Barnieh at Hearts of Oak is uncertain as a result of conflicting reports over whether he will remain there or leave.
This report circulated in the media after Ghana’s exit from the World Cup, propelling Club Consult Africa Limited, the player agency of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, to release information that the player is still contracted and committed to Accra Hearts of Oak.
A meeting between Barnieh’s management and representatives of Hearts of Oak reportedly ended in a deadlock last Thursday, December 8, 2022, according to reports in the media gathered by the enterprising team of editors at www.atspo.com.
Barnieh’s contract with Hearts of Oak expires in December, and as such, he has the option to play the waiting game and leave the club for free, but a majority of Hearts of Oak supporters want him to prolong his contract on humanitarian grounds in order to help the club recoup a sizable sum of money from his sale to a foreign club.
The Phobians, on the other hand, see that Barnieh is now a valuable commodity and that allowing him to leave for free would be a bad business prerogative.
In an interview with Original FM, 91.9 in Accra, the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) player of the year in 2001, Charles Taylor, advised Barnieh to get a second opinion on his contract at Accra Hearts of Oak.
When Charles Taylor was asked if Barnieh was afraid to renew his contract at Accra Hearts of Oak, he responded, “This is not an issue of fears being placed on Barnieh to renew his contract; both parties have to sit down to have a mutual agreement; you can’t force a player to sign a contract; Accra Hearts of Oak has to talk to the player so that the club gets money from the sale of the player.”
Barnieh was advised to reconsider his contract renewal with Accra Hearts of Oak, saying, “What I want to say to Afriyie Barnieh is that he has to take his time and rethink about contract renewal with the club; he should go to his family and discuss with them whether what he is doing is right or wrong.”
