Sheriff Mohammed, a dynamic midfielder for Asante Kotoko, has resumed training with the squad after finally making a full recovery from a seven-month injury.
The 20-year-old joined the Porcupine Warriors at the start of the previous season, and his presence was really appreciated after he had proven himself to be a deserving mainstay in the group.
Unfortunately, he later suffered a sudden injury that forced him to miss the remainder of the campaign.
Before Sheriff Mohammed suffered his permanent injury, the illustrious staff of editors at www.atspo.com recalled that the former head coach of Asante described him as an intelligent player.
Coach Dr. Ogum praised the former Steadfast United’s young midfielder and classified him as an intelligent player in a post-match interview during match week 17 of the 2021/2022 league game between Asante Kotoko and Accra Lions.
Dr. Ogum said after the game, “He (Sheriff) is a multi-functional player, what you normally call a utility player. Wherever you fix him, he will play; you can play him as a right back, as a centre-back anywhere, and I am sure if the need be that one day we have to play him as a marksman, I am sure he can fit in; the fact is that he is very intelligent.”
The dynamic midfielder has been recovering from his injury on the sidelines for a very long period, but he now appears ready to play when the league returns.
Sheriff Mohammed finally returned to Kotoko’s training this morning at Adako Jachie after beginning gym work last month. Everyone was happy to see him back, and the team was overjoyed to have him back.
In light of the resources they already have available, his return will improve their midfield. Sheriff Mohammed will face competition for the position from two highly regarded midfielders, Justice Blay and captain Richard Boadu, with whom he partnered in a double pivot before the injury.
The Porcupine Warriors were held to a scoreless draw by Bofoakwa Tano over the weekend in a friendly, and they still need to improve their preparations before the BetPawa Premier League resumes in a few weeks.
