The outspoken Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, has given his opinion on Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s contract issue.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, a board member at Accra Hearts of Oak, has stated that the club should not prevent Afriyie Barnieh from departing when his contract expires.
The former President of the Ghana Football Association, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, has confirmed reports circulating in the media that the striker and his representatives have been avoiding contract extension talks with the Rainbow Club.
Hearts of Oak’s recent history, which includes FA Cup victories and league victories in the 2020–21 season, would not have been possible without the striker.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, age 21, has also produced strong efforts for the Black Satellites and Black Galaxies, which led to a call-up to the Black Stars for the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.
He excelled very well in Ghana’s pre-Mundial friendly game against Switzerland, in which he earned his first start for the Black Stars of Ghana but was substituted in the second half.
Barnieh is anticipated to join the Black Galaxies in camp soon as they prepare for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria in January next year, and he is also the most wanted person in Accra to have a mutual contractual arrangement with the Accra Hearts of Oak Board of Directors.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, a Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak, stated in an interview with Joy TV that “We have not even had the opportunity to sit down with him; whenever you call him, he’ll give an excuse, and because he gets invited to the national teams, he’ll tell you that we are going here, and when we come back, I’ll sign.”
The board member indicated that other members should not let the striker, Afriyie Barnieh, dictate to the club since the team brought out his talent as a player.
“I’ve told my colleagues on the board that we should not allow him to dictate to us. If he is unwilling to sign, we should allow him to go because it was Hearts that brought him to the limelight, and if he wants to be ungrateful, he should be allowed to go,” Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe furiously declared to Joy TV.
