Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, the prolific striker for Accra Hearts of Oak, has spoken out about his friendship with Kumasi Asante Kotoko goalie Danlad Ibrahim.
The two had been friends for a very long time, dating back to when they were only teenagers and when they were both members of the Black Satellites.
According to the information acquired by the resourceful editors at www.atspo.com, their relationship was established when Daniel Afriyie Barnieh underwent a trial at the Kumasi Asante Kotoko camp in 2017.
Together, they have won the WAFU Cup and the Africa U-20 Championship while competing for the Ghana U-20 team, coached by Karim Zito. It’s interesting that they took home top honours in the Mauritania tournament for best player and best goalkeeper.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Danlad Ibrahim were the only local players that had slots in Ghana’s participation in the World Cup in Qatar, even though both did not feature in a game for Ghana at the World Cup.
Both were spotted together and in the same hotel room during the World Cup in Qatar and all residential camps for different national team call-ups, which added to their closeness throughout national duties. Both are players handled by African Club Consult Limited.
After the Black Galaxies’ friendly match with Legon Cities at Prampram Center of Excellence, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh revealed on the FA’s official YouTube channel that he jokingly regards Danlad Ibrahim as his twin brother and as his agent.
“I think we are twins, but we were separated in our mother’s womb, and he (Danlad Ibrahim) is my player agent too,” was the response from Daniel Afriyie Barnieh after he was questioned about his intimate relationship with Kotoko’s goalkeeper.
Both players helped the Black Galaxies qualify for the CHAN Tournament in Algeria, particularly Barnieh, who scored at Cape Coast Sports Stadium, and Danlad Ibrahim, who saved a penalty at Nigeria’s Moshood Abiola Sports Stadium.
