Manchester United defeated Bournemouth 3-0 at Old Trafford to keep their streak of victories in the Premier League alive.
Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils’ coach, says that despite being pleased with Manchester United’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth, the Reds must be “smarter” in upcoming games.
Casemiro’s first Old Trafford goal put United ahead after 23 minutes; Luke Shaw doubled their lead after the restart; and Marcus Rashford scored late to give the hosts a comfortable win.
Despite trailing by three goals, Bournemouth would have had a chance to score if it weren’t for David De Gea, who was playing in his 510th match for the Red Devils.
Erik spoke to MUTV, Sky, and the BBC after the victory, which brought the Reds and third-place Newcastle even in points despite having played one fewer game.
Erik stated, “It’s true. It was 3-0, and I am happy with that. This is quite clear. But today was not our best game. We need to be smart as a team and make great goals, but sometimes we are lucky. Great saves from David, but play a little bit smarter and as a team, and, finally, we ended up with two departments. One attacking one, and one defending one.”
Ten Hag anticipates a challenging match as Manchester United prepares to face Everton in the FA Cup on Friday night, even though the Toffees have only won one of their previous 10 league contests.
He reiterated to MUTV, “We have to go from game to game. The next game is a cup game, but there is also the league. We want to win every game, and it has to be a process. The process has to be to win the next game and not look any further. We need to concentrate on that, and we know that, so we have to bring energy and preparation to have the energy when we kick off on Friday night.”
