Hamza Obeng, a former assistant coach under Samuel Boadu at Accra Hearts of Oak and Medeama FC, spoke about his feelings regarding the departures of Mohammed Alhassan and Fatawu Mohammed.
The management of Accra Hearts of Oak decided to part ways with the seasoned duo before the World Cup in Qatar because their new manager, Slavko Matic, was dissatisfied with the performance of Mohammed Alhassan and Fatawu Mohammed.
Fatawu Mohammed, the Phobians’ captain, was shown the exit door after nearly ten years at the club, despite having a year left on his contract, and he later granted an interview to Sports Obama TV on YouTube, revealing vital information about the team.
After nearly five seasons with the reigning MTN FA Cup champions and serving as deputy captain to Fatawu Mohammed, dependable defender Mohammed Alhassan has formally left the club.
On Today’s Sports, renowned sports journalist Sometymer Otuo Acheampong spoke with Hamza Obeng on Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.
Hamza Obeng, a former assistant coach, claimed he was shocked by the club’s decision to fire Mohammed Alhassan and Fatawu Mohammed.
He told Sometymer, “I was shocked by the decision of Hearts of Oak to offload Fatawu Mohammed and Mohammed Alhassan. There are some players you do not even look at their performance but rather their commitment to the club, but I do not know the event that led to that decision.”
In the meantime, it’s anticipated that Fatawu Mohammed and Mohammed Alhassan will find new teams before the second transfer window closes.
The Kumasi-born coach, Hamza Obeng, is expected to go back to the Ghana Football Association to enforce the decision of the Player Status Committee since a compensation of GHS 105, 000 for breach of contract and 5% interest from October 1, 2022, has not been affected by the management of Accra Hearts of Oak.
