Nora Hauptle, a former head coach of Switzerland’s women’s team, has been named the coach of the Black Queens by the Ghana Football Association.
Hauptle takes over as head coach of Ghana’s senior women’s national team from Mercy Tagoe Quarcoo, who has held the position since 2019.
In keeping with the Ghana FA’s ongoing practice of switching the technical staff for the various national teams, the announcement was made on Thursday, January 5.
The 39-year-old will receive assistance from Joyce Boatey-Agyei and Aboagye Dacosta as they work to help the Black Queens rediscover their best form in time for them to begin preparing for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.
Boatey-Agyei is a former coach of Ghana’s female U-15 team, as well as a current physical education teacher at Kumasi Girls Senior High School. Aboagye Dacosta is a former Asante Kotoko player who now manages AshTown Ladies in the Ghana Women’s Premier League.
A statement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announcing Hauptle’s appointment was released on Thursday with the following content:
“Nora Häuptle has been appointed as the Head Coach of the Senior Women’s National Team—otherwise known as Black Queens. The 39-year-old former Swiss International graduated from the University of Bern with a Master’s degree in Sports Sciences, as well as a Bachelor of Philosophy and a Minor in Theatre Sciences.
