Asante Kotoko, led by Nana Yaw Amponsah, is starting to officially justify your inclusion in their quest to form a formidable youth team in January.
The festival, which will last four days and take place at the Adako Jachie Park, will start on January 17, 2023, and end on January 20, 2023, according to a club statement released on Friday, December 6, 2023.
This statement confirms an interview with the coach in charge of the youth team, Abdulai Gazelle, granted to Kumasi-based Kessben FM in June 2022, in which he stated, “Our CEO informed me that the budget is ready, so we will hold our first justify next week to select about 25 players to start our academy.”
The recruitment drive, which will begin in earnest in January 2023, aims to bring in top talent for the club’s initiative, which Nana Yaw Amponsah and his management promised would have an academy department when they took over the club two years ago and is anticipated to launch in February.
The youth team, which served as the club’s foundation and produced players such as Francis Akwaffo, the late Kwaku Dua, Eric Nii Baah, Dauda Mohammed, Sarfo Taylor, and a slew of others, is being revived by Nana Yaw Amponsah’s management.
Players who wish to participate in the four-day trial must be between the ages of 15 and 19, and they must report to the training fields by 7 a.m. each day, according to a statement made by management.
In a statement, the management of Asante Kotoko advised interested male footballers to pick up registration forms at the Regional Football Association Secretariat and T.I. Amass Senior High School in Kumasi.
The Kumasi Asante Kotoko youth system was shut down a few years ago due to financial issues before Nana Yaw Amponsah took office.
The coaches will evaluate the players under the direction of gaffer Abdulai Gazelle, who took over for Maxwell Konadu in February 2021.
