The ever-controversial General Manager of Accra Great Olympics, Oluboi Commodore, is confident of victory at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, January 8, 2023.
Accra Great Olympics will battle for three points against the defending league champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, in week 11 of the betPawa Premier League after they have been defeated in their last three games.
The winners of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) top six competition will face Kumasi Asante Kotoko without their first-choice goalkeeper, Stephen Kwaku, who has been called up late by Black Galaxies coach Annor Walker ahead of the 2023 CHAN tournament in Algeria.
Oluboi Commodore, the General Manager of Great Olympics, is confident that his team will defeat Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium despite all of these shortcomings.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, Oluboi Commodore revealed that his team is highly motivated to secure all three points. He said he was surprised that some Kotoko management members are discussing a win on Sunday.
He told Richardo Suarez Pepe of Akoma Sports, “It’s funny that some Kotoko management members are assuring their fans that they are winning against Accra Great Olympics; this is a big match, but we are coming to Kumasi to win.”
He lamented Accra Great Olympics’ preparation for Kumasi Asante Kotoko games and compared their preparation for Kotoko’s game to the likes of Nsoatreman and Samartex in the betPawa Premier League.
Oluboi explained, “Our preparation for the Kotoko game is not different from other games. We’re approaching them with the same approach and strategy we use when playing Samartex or Nsoatreman.”
The general manager’s assurance could be seen when he was asked what time Accra’s Great Olympics goals would be scored at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Oluboi declared: “Fans should attend because we will defeat Kotoko and score early goals; otherwise, they won’t see the goals. Boo me after the game if Great Olympics doesn’t win on Sunday at Baba Yara Sports Stadium. I am familiar with my team, and I have fixed all the issues so that we will defeat Kotoko.”
