The 7th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) commenced in Algeria on Friday, January 13, 2023.
After an exciting opening ceremony in Algiers, Algeria faced the competition’s first champions, Libya, at the Baraki Stadium.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed Ghana’s Black Galaxies’ 2023 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) jersey numbers.
The adorably talented staff of editors at www.atspo.com has discovered the jersey numbers of Annor Walker’s team, which will play for the trophy for the first time since 2014.
Annor Walker and his charges left the shores of Ghana for Egypt on the eve of the festive season, preparing for the tournament with 25 official players from the local league.
Although notable players who should have automatically made the final squad failed out, their replacements were quite satisfactory, especially Mohammed Alhassan, who played an integral role in the qualifiers and should have been part of Annor Walker’s final list for Algeria.
Some notable players that fought hard for the black galaxies to earn a qualification slot for the CHAN competition are Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Danlad Ibrahim, Dennis Nkrumah Korsah, David Abagna, and to an extent Jonah Attuquaye, whose numbers have been approved by CAF.
The Black Galaxies have switched camp bases from Algeria, after a series of pre-CHAN friendly games in Egypt and Algeria, to Constantine, where they are scheduled to play all their group games at the Mohammed Hamlaoui Stadium.
The Black Galaxies will face Madagascar in their opening match in Group C at 19:00 GMT on January 15. They will play other group games against defending champions Morocco in a four-day interval, but reports indicate that they have officially pulled out of the competition.
Gladson Awako, the team’s captain, will wear jersey number 11, while close friends Danlad Ibrahim and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh will wear numbers 16 and 18, respectively.
The table below shows the players’ names, jersey numbers and local clubs of the Black Galaxies at the CHAN Tournament in Algeria.
