The former Chelsea manager took over for Rafa Benitez in January but has yet to put a stop to the rot at Goodison Park.
Following a disappointing 2-0 loss to relegation rivals, West Ham’s 3-2 defeat on Saturday proved to be the final straw.
According to the editors of www.atspo.com, majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri “held talks with the club’s board over Lampard’s future,” where the decision to swing the ace was made.
When Rafael Benitez was replaced in January 2022, with the team 16th in the standings, former England midfielder Lampard, 44, assisted Everton in avoiding relegation.
Everton is now looking for their sixth permanent manager in five years; this became a reality when Lampard talked of his future after the defeat to the Hammers and said, “Those things are not my choice; it is my job to work, focus, and keep my head down. I have confidence in how I want to coach. There are difficult conditions that I am aware of. I just do my job and talk about what I can affect, and that’s the players trying to get the right results.”
Additionally, there have been rumours that Lampard and some of his team members got into a fight, causing him to lose his position at Goodison Park.
Lampard’s tenure on Merseyside started off well as they romped to a 4-1 FA Cup victory over Brentford. This was followed by a 3-1 loss at Newcastle, but they recovered with a 3-0 home victory over Leeds.
The Merseysiders have only won once in their last 12 league games following the loss at the London Stadium, giving them just 15 points this season out of a possible 60.
When owner Farhad Moshiri gave Lampard the dreaded public vote of confidence earlier this month, it seemed the writing was on the wall for Lampard.
The former Chelsea midfielder had an average record at Everton, where he played 44 games, won 12 matches as a manager, drew 8 games, and lost 44 games for a 27.3% win rate.
