Hon. Samuel Nartey George, a member of the Fourth Republic of Ghana’s Seventh Parliament and representative for the Ningo-Prampram constituency, has claimed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has already chosen Chris Hughton to be the new Black Stars coach.
After confirming it had received more than 1,000 applications for the open Black Stars coaching position, the Football Association is currently in the process of appointing a new coach.
The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram revealed in an interview on the Joy Prime Morning Show that the Ghana FA has decided to appoint Chris Hughton as the successor of Otto Addo.
Sam George, a member of Parliament’s Communications Committee, claimed that the decision to hire Chris Hughton was based on factors other than competence and experience in the coaching profession.
The position has been vacant ever since Addo resigned immediately after Ghana was eliminated in Qatar, despite recent indications that a new gaffer is about to be named.
Sam George claimed, without providing any evidence, that some GFA officials were choosing Chris Hughton over other foreign coaches like Héctor Cúper, Steve McClaren, and Paulo Bento in order to benefit themselves at the expense of the nation.
Sam George, on the other hand, believes the decision has already been made because the Ghana FA wants to select someone they have “control” over.
On the show, Sam George questioned Chris Hughton’s selection as Otto Addo’s successor, saying, “That [coaching] job has already been given to Chris Hughton, so why are we wasting our time?”
The National Democratic Congress member stated, “They have given it to him because they want someone they can manipulate, someone they can use to do their business, someone they can tell to bring his team selection [with changes being made with regards to agency callups] regardless of how long the person has played or not played.”
Well said Sam George. GFA are too corrupt and selfish. What a country 🙄😡
