The defending champions of the betPawa Premier League, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, lost their dependable right-back, Christopher Nakai Nettey, after his refusal to renew his expired contract.

Nettey spent three years with the Porcupine Warriors after joining them from the Attram de Visser Academy, and he also happened to be a vital member of the Kotoko team that won the 2021–2022 Premier League championship under Prosper Ogum Nartey.
