Gladson Awako, the captain of the Black Galaxies of Ghana, has expressed his contentment after their exit from the 7th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The captain of the Black Galaxies was very optimistic about making the nation proud by playing at a respectable stage in the competition in Algeria.
Gladson Awako said during the tournament’s preparation that the target was to do well at the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and ensure they put smiles on the faces of Ghanaians.
In an interview with the GFA media team, Awako stated that the team is eager to perform well at the CHAN tournament so that Ghanaians can forget about their poor performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“We’re just waiting for the day when we can get on the field and make our country and everyone else proud; make everyone proud and right all of the wrongs that happened and everything that went wrong at the World Cup.” “We will make sure to put smiles on the faces of Ghanaians,” Awako told the GFA media team.
The Black Galaxies lost their opening game in the tournament against Madagascar by a 2-1 score line; they beat Sudan in their second game by a 3-1 score to qualify for the quarterfinals of the competition.
Gladson Awako, a 33-year-old midfielder who missed Ghana’s second game against Sudan after struggling in the first game against Madagascar due to a knock he picked up prior to the tournament, did not play in the game against Niger, despite the fact that he was reported to be able to start.
In the 11th and 49th minutes of the game, Imarana Seyni and Soumana Hainikoye scored goals to send Annor Walker’s team back to Ghana. Gladson Awako was replaced by Dominic Nsobila in the offensive position against Niger.
