The betPawa Premier League’s second transfer window is set to close at 11:59 p.m. on February 10, 2023.
Mohammed Alhassan, who was a member of the Accra Hearts of Oak squad that won the betPawa Premier League in the 2020–21 season under coach Samuel Boadu, has been laid off by the management in the early days of the 2022–2023 season.
On February 9, 2023, Mohammed Alhassan, the third player to join the Porcupine Warriors after Rashid Nortey and Brazilian international rookie Matheus De Souza, signed with Accra Hearts of Oak’s fiercest rival Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Mohammed Alhassan, who made a name for himself in the Ghana Premier League and is now regarded as one of the best defenders, was crucial in ensuring the Black Galaxies’ qualification for the recently concluded CHAN.
He was left off Annor Walker’s final list for the tournament in Algeria because he was not getting enough game time under Hearts of Oak’s new head coach, Slavko Matic.
He played in three league games under Slavko Matic: against Aduana Stars in Dormaa, in a 1-1 draw at Baba Yara Sports Stadium against his new side Asante Kotoko, and against Accra Lions at Accra Sports Stadium.
After featuring in 22 league games for his childhood club, West African Football Academy (WAFA), Mohammed Alhassan moved to the rainbow outfit in the 2019-2020 league season, where during his spell at Hearts of Oak, he featured in 79 games before parting ways with them.
The 30-year-old won the President’s Cup, back-to-back MTN FA Cup championships, and the Ghana Premier League during the 2020–21 season before leaving Hearts.
Kotoko confirmed they had completed the signing of the player on Thursday, a day before the closure of the second transfer window of the current season, on their official website, scasantekotoko.com, and had the heading of their official announcement as, “Mo Alhassan is a Porcupine Warrior.”
