Kumasi Asante Kotoko, the defending champions of the betPawa Premier League, will play Nsoatreman Football Club in week 18 of the season.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko will play their first game in the second round against Nsoatreman FC on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Nana Koromansa Park in Nsoatre.
Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko player and former Black Stars of Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has presented a plan to Asante Kotoko head coach Seidu Zerbo.
Seidu Zerbo, the head coach of Asante Kotoko, has won two away games, lost four matches, and drawn three games in his first season in the betPawa Premier League. His team has conceded 9 away goals and scored 7.
Zerbo’s last away win was a visit to Ackoon Park at Tarkwa, where Nicholas Mensah scored his third Premier League goal away on November 12, 2022, for Kotoko to have their second away win in the 2022-2023 season.
Asante Kotoko hasn’t won in six of their away games since the victory over Medeama, and they begin the second round at a location that has proven challenging for other betPawa Premier League teams.
Nsoatreman Football Club is the best-performing home team in the betPawa Premier League; they have 22 points out of a possible 27 points at home, making them the best team after nine home games with seven wins, one draw, and one loss.
Kotoko’s recent away performance has worried fans and players alike, prompting former Black Stars player and coach Kwesi Appiah to express concern about how to start winning away games consistently.
In an interview with Oyerepa FM in Kumasi, James Kwesi Appiah, a member of the 1982 Black Stars team that won the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), gave out a strategy to help Seidu Zerbo win consistently at away venues in the second round of the season.
In an answer to Sometymer’s question on his former club’s away performances, Mr. Appiah hinted that a game plan for a home game should not be the same as an away game.
Coach Kwesi Appiah divulged, “We have to try and be consistent in our results. Sometimes you need to plan and vary your tactics by not adopting the same tactical play in home matches as in away games.”
“I’m hoping we can get a consistent run of wins going forward,” Kwesi Appiah said.
