David Abagna, a Ghanaian international who joined Al Hilal after the CHAN Tournament in Algeria, scored his first goal for Al Hilal against Coton Sport in the CAF Champions League on Tuesday afternoon.
The home team made a strong start to the game, controlling the midfield and pushing players forward. David Abagna opened the scoring in the 41st minute after receiving a wonderful pass from Mohamed Abdelrahman.
The lone goal in the first half, scored by the ex-Real Tamale United (R.T.U.) offensive midfielder, forced adjustments from the visiting team. After the first half, Brawdon Eno and Moshood Kasali were replaced by Ramses Nguimeeu and Reich Kokolo, respectively.
Coton Sport still failed to score an equalizer despite the adjustments, and Makabi Lilepo of DR Congo, who has four goals in the last three CAF Champions League games, gave Al Hilal their second goal of the day.
David Abagna, a former Real Tamale United striker, was replaced by Fabrice Ngoma in the 64th minute as both teams made adjustments to their lineups to suit their respective strategies as the game entered its final minutes.
Also in a typical 4-4-2 formation deployed by head coach Florent Ibenge, a former left-back of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Imoro Ibrahim was used at the left side of the defence as the home side ended the game without conceding a goal.
