Marcus Rashford MBE, the youngest English player to score in his first senior international match, has been named both Manchester United’s and the Premier League’s Player of the Month for the second month in a row.
The English forward has won his third Premier League Player of the Month award in the 2022-2023 season, making him the only player to ever win the award three times in a single season, alongside Egyptian winger Mohammed Salah.
By winning both prizes back-to-back, Rashford’s brilliant play has once again been acknowledged. This supports the claim that throughout February, Rashford played four league games, winning three of them and scoring five goals. United are third in the league table, putting pressure on the top two, Arsenal and Manchester City.
The Manchester United forward first won the award in September and has now won back-to-back awards in January and February, the fourth of Rashford’s career, after scoring five goals in four matches for United in February.
Rashford was the best nominee among Kelechi Iheanacho, Bernd Leno, Emerson Royal, Manor Solomon, and Ole Watkins, having scored in wins over Crystal Palace, Leicester, and Leeds, as well as a draw against Leeds United at Old Trafford.
Rashford told MUTV after winning the award that he was a proud player to win an award on three occasions in the 2022–2023 season.
“It’s obviously always good to be among the conversation, and to be awarded this Player of the Month, I feel like, especially in the last three months, you could give it to anyone. Any of the people that have been voted for deserve to win it, and it obviously makes me feel really proud that I have managed to do it three times,” Rashford expressed.
The 25-year-old in-form English striker, Marcus Rashford, continued his pleasure on his official Twitter handle, @MarcusRashford, which the astonished team of editors at www.atspo.com have sighted.
Rashford tweeted, “Over the moon to have won MU and PL Player of the Month again. I couldn’t have done it without the rest of the boys and the staff. Setbacks will happen, but as long as we stay focused and stay together, we will always see the light at the end of the tunnel!”
