David Ocloo, who is reportedly the interim coach of Accra Hearts of Oak following the departure of Serbian tactician Slavko Matic, believes he will win the betPawa Premier League in 2022-2023.
On October 5, 2022, Ghana Premier League club Hearts of Oak appointed David Ocloo as their new assistant coach after firing Samuel Boadu following a poor start to the season.
David Ocloo, who holds CAF coaching certificates A, B, and C, as well as a certificate in sports performance and video analysis, is rumoured to be in charge of the rainbow outfit until the end of the season after his predecessor was advised to stay away from the team by the Criminal and Investigative Department of the Ghana Police Service.
He shared points with the best-performing coach, Michael Osei, at Dun’s Park on Saturday after defeating Seidu Zerbo in Week 20 of the betPawa Premier League, and he was confident of winning the betPawa Premier League.
Accra Hearts of Oak conceded an early goal in the first four minutes of the game, a goal scored by left-back Evans Owusu, and they were unable to equalize by the end of the first half at Dun’s Park.
The former assistant coach to Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum at Kumasi Asante Kotoko made swift tactical substitutions in the second half, with Salifu Ibrahim replacing Benjamin Yorke and Victor Aidoo replacing Cameroonian forward Albert Eonde.
When Salifu Ibrahim converted a free-kick at 90+6 minutes of the game for Victor Aidoo to head it over Joseph Baah for a goal, David Ocloo’s substitution was spot on, leaving the away team with a 1-1 score line.
In a post-match interview with StarTimes, David Ocloo replied confidently that he was certain his team has the capabilities to win the 2022–2023 betPawa Premier League when quizzed on whether he could win the title.
Ocloo disclosed, “Yes, of course, we have 39 points to chase, so if you just imagine 39 points, we can still win it.
