Jürgen Norbert Klopp, since joining Liverpool on October 8, 2015, has been eliminated from major European competitions, all against Spanish clubs.
Liverpool was beaten at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, and a goal scored by Real Madrid’s forward Karim Benzema in the 79th minute ended Jürgen Klopp’s team’s existence in the 2022-2023 UEFA Champions League campaign.
Liverpool has failed to score in their next two games, against AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium and Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, after thrashing their bitterest rival in the English Premier League, Manchester United, by seven goals to zero.
The most dangerous statistic of Jürgen Klopp’s Champions League exit is that Liverpool is currently six points off the Champions League places in the Premier League, despite having a game in hand on fourth-placed Tottenham.
After Liverpool’s defeat in Madrid, the National British daily broadsheet newspaper published in London by Telegraph Media Group declared, “Cancel the hotel in Istanbul,” because, after the heartbreak and trauma of losing last year’s Champions League final, Jürgen Klopp had defiantly urged Liverpool fans to book their accommodations for this season’s venue by the Bosphorus but, in the last 16, they are out.
The Stuttgart-born tactician, Jürgen Klopp, has failed to qualify in major European competitions when they played against Sevilla, Atlético Madrid, and Real Madrid, which, before last Wednesday’s night, he had lost to Carlo Ancelotti in four games and one drawn game.
Klopp told BT Sport after the defeat against Real Madrid that his team had prepared for a special performance but didn’t demonstrate it at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
“We prepared for a special performance, but we were unable to put it on the pitch tonight. Nobody’s thinking about how Liverpool didn’t go through. That’s how it is, and we have to accept it,” Jürgen Klopp said after being eliminated.
In an interview with BT Sport, Jürgen Klopp indicated that his team failed to put in a special performance against Real Madrid.
Klopp stated, “If you want to go through, you need a special performance—we couldn’t put in a special performance tonight. The right team went through; that’s what we have to admit. Madrid controlled the game. It’s not what we wanted, but it’s what we got.”
