Last Sunday, April 2, 2023, Kumasi Asante Kotoko won at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Match Week 25 of the betPawa Premier League.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko scored four goals against Real Tamale United (R.T.U.) in the second league match in which Asante Kotoko’s interim coach Abdul Gazale led the technical team.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko drew 1-1 against Legon Cities in Week 24 of the betPawa Premier League, in Abdul Gazelle’s first game in charge after Seydou Zerbo’s contract was terminated.
At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, where he played his first home game against the titans of Tamale, Gazale, who is leading Kumasi Asante Kotoko for the second time under the direction of Nana Yaw Amponsah, went unbeaten.
Asante Kotoko scored four goals in a typical 4-1-3-2 tactical formation deployed by Abdul Gazale against Real Tamale United (R.T.U.) last Sunday evening, which is surprising considering the previous game at home against Medeama Sporting Club.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko had two strikers score three goals: Steve Desse Mukwala scored two goals and Brazilian international Matheus Medeiros de Souza scored a goal at the 90+2 minute mark after Augustine Agyapong had already scored from a free-kick.
After the game, the interim coach responded in a post-game press conference to a question about whether he was impressed with his team’s strikers and that the two forwards were able to score goals that helped the team win against R.T.U.
Gazale told StarTimes, “Yes, because when you look at today’s game and midweek’s game against Legon Cities, we were playing 4-2-3-1, and clearly, you could see that today we wanted to double more men in the opponent’s half.”
“God being so good and so wonderful that we were able to do it, they were able to send the ball where we needed it, and we got the goals against R.T.U., so to me, I will say kudos to the players,” Gazale admitted.
