The Board of Directors at Asante Kotoko, headed by Dr. Kwame Kyei, and the Management Team, headed by Nana Yaw Amponsah, have been formally disbanded by the Manhyia Palace administration.
According to a detailed report obtained by the editing team of www.atspo.com from the corridors of the Manhyia Palace, both parties were informed of their expiration at the helm of affairs following an emergency meeting with Mr. Kofi Badu, the Chief of Staff at the Manhyia Palace.
The Board of Directors at Asante Kotoko took on the responsibility of making decisions for their own elected management members to meet the Club Licencing Board’s regulations, and they were officially unveiled on Thursday, May 28, 2020.
A nine-member Board of Directors for Kumasi Asante Kotoko was initially announced by the club’s life patron, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who later added three more members to the board.
The administration at the Manhyia Palace gave the 12-member Asante Kotoko Board of Directors, led by Dr. Kwame Kyei, the order to reestablish the Kotoko brand as a viable business entity in addition to its performance on the field of play.
The Board of Directors appointed former Ghana Football Association presidential candidate Nana Yaw Amponsah, who was formally introduced at the Sports Hotel in Kumasi on Friday, August 7, 2020, to lead Kumasi Asante Kotoko on a daily basis.
Nana Yaw Amponsah was given the green light for Asante Kotoko’s management under the 12-member board of directors after he was unanimously voted for approval since he had convinced the board during a series of meetings that he was the right person needed to implement the vision of the board.
After three years at the helm of affairs for the Board of Directors and the management team, the Chief of Staff, Mr. Kofi Badu, who has always been the representative of His Royal Majesty, informed the two parties of the club that the mandate that was bestowed on them has expired, and thus a new leader will be named soon.
