A confidential report from www.atspo.com states that former President John Dramani Mahama has taken steps to help the veteran Ghanaian goalkeeper in a dire situation.
The current National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama, acted after a viral video showed the former goalkeeper of Ghana’s women’s national team in a heartbreaking situation.
Memunatu Sulemana, a member of Ghana’s first team to participate in the FIFA World Cup hosted by the United States in 1999, ended up living in a makeshift wooden kiosk in Kaneshie, a suburb of Accra, Ghana.
According to the report, John Mahama gave Memunatu Sulemana a fully furnished one-bedroom flat in Dansoman, a suburb of Accra, on Monday, August 28, 2023, because the former captain’s current residence is heart-wrenching.
Furthermore, John Dramani Mahama made a financial donation to Memunatu Sulemana through friends and colleagues to help her get started and ensure she finds a new path to success.
The former President made this gesture to ensure that Memunatu Sulemana, a former goalkeeper, joins contemporaries such as Adwoa Bayor, Alberta Sackey, and Mercy Tagoe Quarcoo, who have transitioned to other professions after retiring from football.
Memunatu Sulemana was the goalkeeper’s trainer for Ghana’s Black Maidens until her recent challenge.
According to reports, the former Black Queens shot-stopper is expected to move into her new home by the end of the week, and her tears have been wiped away.
