Jude Bellingham scored his first goal at Santiago Bernabéu, helping Real Madrid come back after Mayoral's goal and maintain their unbeaten streak in La Liga.
Real Madrid won their fourth straight La Liga match, and Englishman Jude Bellingham scored his fifth league goal, becoming the first Real Madrid player to score in his first four games since Cristiano Ronaldo.
Getafe took the lead before the first quarter of an hour, capping off Real Madrid’s return to the Santiago Bernabéu in style and treating their fans to yet another comeback.
Borja Mayoral, a Spaniard and ex-Madrid striker, scored the first goal after 11 minutes when the ball broke to him after some poor defending. He was one-on-one with the goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and calmly slotted the ball into the net.
Real Madrid reacted quickly after three minutes of the second half. Joselu got the much-anticipated equalizer, as he was in the right place at the right time to get to the rebound inside the box and rifle the ball low inside the right post with delight.
Twelve minutes later, referee Mario Melero López awarded a penalty for Aleñá bringing down Bellingham, but he reversed his decision after being alerted by the VAR and seeing the play on the monitor.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side seemed to have finished with a point in a game that marked their return to the newly renovated Santiago Bernabéu. La Liga’s Best Player of August 2023, Jude Bellingham, led his team to victory against Getafe.
Bellingham, who got his fifth goal at 90+5 minutes, gathered the ball off Soria’s rebound from Lucas Vázquez’s shot inside the box and fired it home into the bottom right corner.
Bellingham revealed his emotions in a post-game interview after scoring the game-winning goal that kept his team unbeaten in four games.
“The moment of the goal was the loudest I’ve ever heard on a football pitch. I couldn’t believe it. My legs were shaking when they chanted my name at the end of the game,” Jude said after his first goal at Santiago Bernabéu.
