Nana Fitzgerald Barkers Woode, a former Chief Executive Officer at Kumasi Corners Stones, has given his opinion on how the football administration can be restored to its proper state.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has faced criticism for its repeated poor performance in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simon Okraku, has led the Black Stars to fail in three competitions: Cameroon 2021, Qatar 2022, and Côte d’Ivoire 2023.
Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, is reported to have cried at the Black Stars’ hotel in Côte d’Ivoire after a 2:2 draw with Mozambique’s Mambas because there was no way to qualify.
The Association has formed a committee to find a suitable coach after Chris Hughton was fired due to poor tactical skills in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire; the Black Stars lost to Cape Verde and drew with Egypt and Mozambique.
The way the Black Stars have performed under Kurt Okraku’s leadership has alarmed numerous football administrators, most notably Nana Fitz, the former Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Corner Stones.
During an interview with Raphael Kofi Atakorah on New Mercury FM in Kumasi, Nana Fitz, who led Corner Stones to victory in the WAFU Cup in 1987, hinted at the necessity of replacing the Ghana Football Association’s president.
Nana Fitz responded to Atakorah’s question during the interview, demanding an explanation as to whether club administrators were involved in the upcoming demonstration on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024.
Nana Fitz signalled, “I want to inform you that the club administrators who elected Kurt to office during the previous congress are nowhere to be found during this critical time. But these club administrators, if not for the sake of taking money from the association’s president, have the audacity to call for an emergency congress to pass a vote of no confidence.”
