Anyars Ibrahim Tanko, the 1996/97 UEFA Champions League winner who has spent a year at Medeama in Tarkwa, has shared his plans ahead of the week 17 clash against Hearts of Oak.

The former Accra Lions tactician joined the yellow and mauve outfit on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, replacing Evans Adotey in the previous season’s first round.
Ibrahim Tanko’s team has been stellar in the title race during the first round of the season, going 13 games without a defeat and settling at the summit of the Ghana Premier League table with their last home league game.
Medeama’s last defeat in the Ghana Premier League was against Karela United away, where they lost 0:1 on September 28, 2025.

Accra Hearts of Oak are climaxing their away league matches at a venue where they have consistently performed well during previous visits. They enter Tarkwa as the team with the highest points accumulated in away games this season and are one of the few teams to have secured a victory at the Tarkwa New TnA Park.
The Rainbow Lads have won two of their last three visits to Tarkwa and will hope to win their fourth game at the away venue, which will most likely be an improved result against their opponent, given that the two sides have the same number of points on the season’s away league table.

Tanko has always believed that the bond between the supporters and the team, especially at the new Tarkwa TnA Park, must be strengthened with a win against Didi Dramani. This victory is essential for maintaining their position at the top of the table as they approach the end of the first round.
In an interview, Tanko stated, “Hearts is a very strong side. I’m sure the boys are ready to take the fight. We are playing at home.”

“We want to maintain our position at the top. It’s not going to be easy, but we are ready. The boys are ready to deliver,” Tanko stated with much confidence.

Medeama Sporting Club has played 25 home league games at the new venue, and they have recorded 18 wins, 5 draws and 2 defeats.
