The National Sports Authority (NSA) in collaboration with the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) has launched the 2022 edition of the Ghana Cross Country Championship.
The event, which is the fourth of its kind, will happen on February 26, 2022, in Akim Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
Athletes across the length and breadth of the country will compete for the coveted prize of the best cross-country runner of the country.
The likes of Koogo Atiah, Lariba Sakat, Titi Rosina, William Amponsah, David Nakousi and Sherifa Moro will battle for supremacy to be the ultimate cross-country athlete of the country.
Speaking at the press launch of the event, the NSA boss, Professor Peter Twumasi believes the event solidifies the relationship between the National Sports Authority and Ghana Athletics Association.
Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the 2023 African Games, Dr Kwaku Ofosu Asare, encouraged the media to help promote the event to help bring the athletes into the limelight.
The National Cross-Country Championship will also serve as a build-up to the 2023 African Games to be hosted in Ghana.
The top three athletes will receive their medals and cash prizes at the Presidency after the event, however, the specific amount to be won was not communicated.
