It was an emotional night at the London Stadium as Andriy Yarmolenko scored a late winner to send West Ham through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
The Ukrainian scored in extra-time as the Hammers won 2-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate against Sevilla.
It sent West Ham through to their first European quarter-final in 41 years.
It was an incredible moment for Yarmolenko, who scored his second goal for the club in a matter of days after returning to the squad after taking compassionate leave amid his country’s war with Russia.
The Ukrainian wrote himself into the West Ham history books with one of the most important goals in the club’s history.
The Hammers had it all to do after losing 1-0 in Spain in the first leg.
The home side had goalkeeper Alphonse Areola to thank for keeping the match goalless with a spectacular one-handed save midway through the first half.
It was a let-off for Moyes’ side, and they soon made Sevilla pay for not making the most of their chance.
West Ham took the lead on the night, and levelled the tie at 1-1 when Tomas Soucek headed home a cross from Michail Antonio.
The Hammers then dominated after coming out in the second half with wave after wave of attacks from the home side.
They had a number of corners that Sevilla struggled to cope with, but failed to make their dominance pay.
Neither side could force a winner in the 90 minutes, with Soucek and Manuel Lanzini having chances late on as the match headed to extra-time.
But it was written in the stars that Yarmolenko would come off the bench and score an emotional winner.
