The official transfer deadline of the BetPawa Premier League came to an end at midnight (GMT) on Monday, August 22, 2022, the MTN FA Cup Champions announced the signing of former Great Olympics red-hot striker, Maxwell Abbey Quaye, before the stipulated deadline.
Although it has been claimed that the striker has joined Accra Hearts of Oak, Oluboi Commodore, the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of Accra Great Olympics, stated in an interview that he would be astonished if Maxwell Abbey Quaye signed for another team in Ghana.
Oluboi is particularly hazardous to the Rainbow team in terms of legal difficulties because he filed a civil lawsuit against Accra Hearts of Oak when they attempted to transfer the former Berekum Chelsea and TP Mazembe midfielder to their team in 2021.
In spite of Gladson Awako’s transfer, Accra Hearts of Oak owed Accra Great Olympics 50,000 Ghana cedis, and he pushed the issue until they paid the whole amount.
He later abandoned a civil complaint he had filed against Hearts of Oak, a rival team in Accra, for unpaid transfer fees for Gladson Awako.
He told Fox FM in an interview, “Hearts of Oak have done the needful concerning the Gladson Awako case so the case has been withdrawn from the court. Hearts of Oak have paid the arrears of GHC50, 000 being the final payment of the Awako transfer fee so there’s no case now.”
He has spoken about the transfer of Maxwell Abbey Quaye again, and he made some legitimate remarks on the player’s switch to their city rivals.
He discussed this on Wamputu Sports Show with Odiasempa Kwame Oware in an interview with Happy FM in Accra, he stated, “In our system or the GFA system, he is still an Olympics player though there have been some reports on Twitter about him joining Hearts, I don’t think he is the one.”
The Ghana Football Association was then contacted by the knowledgeable editors of www.atspo.com to find out which team had the talented striker Maxwell Abbey Quaye on record.
