The current BetPawa Premier League champions were held to a 1-1 draw in their fourth game at the Al Hilal Stadium-Omdurman.
They played against Al Alhi Khartoum Club, the sole representative in the Sudanese league for the 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup, which was played under closed doors.
The team is expected to arrive in Ghana on Thursday, September 1, 2022, after they have transited through Ethiopia and after departing from their base in Sudan for the preseason tour.
After the first plan to fly to Turkey fell through, the Nana Yaw Amponsah-led management decided to train in Sudan.

A plaque honouring Asante Kotoko’s contribution to the growth of football in Africa was presented to the club’s chief executive officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah, on behalf of the organisation by the Al Hilal administration.
They started to engage in football games on the pitch when they played Al Hilal Omdurman at the club stadium on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. They lost by two goals to zero, their first preseason match after settling in Sudan.
They were thrashed by five goals to nil in a second friendly match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Al Hilal on August 26, 2022, the Sudanese giants earned US$45,400 in these two matches through the sale of match tickets during their two exhibition games against Asante Kotoko at the Al Hilal Stadium.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko suffered a 2-4 loss against Tanzania’s Simba FC in their third friendly match at the same stadium in Sudan, Steven Mukwala, a new striker who finished the 2020–21 Uganda Premier League season as the league’s leading scorer, and Stephen Amankona scored the Red Army men’s two goals.
They played the final game of their stay in Sudan on August 31st, 2022, recording their first drawn game in the four matches played at the Omdurman Stadium, where Sadio Mane looked esque in the Kotoko setup, Dickson Afoakwa recorded his third goal in the preseason by far.
