Togbe Afede XIV, a winner of the 2020 Ghana Entrepreneurs and Corporate Executive Awards and majority shareholder of Accra Hearts of Oak, clarified why coach Samuel Boadu resigned from the national U-20 team to the club’s many supporters at Ejisu Forestry Commission Park.
After leaving the capital for their preseason, the squad has spent some time in Ashanti Region, Kumasi. They’ve played a series of friendlies in which their new striker, Junior Kaaba, has played brilliantly in front of goal.
They defeated Future Stars and Asokwa Deportivo during their stay in Kumasi, and they postponed their last friendly against Bibiani Gold Stars yesterday at the Ejisu Forestry Commission Park. Junior Kaaba scored in each game to make a statement to the other BetPawa Premier League teams.
On Monday, August 29, 2022, they arrived in the Ashanti Region to build the team for their alleged champions of champions match with Asante Kotoko and their first BetPawa Premier League matchup versus Aduana Stars at Nana Agyemang Badu Sports Stadium.
An announcement about their mini rally was made on the club’s official Twitter account on Saturday, September 3, 2022, and it read, “The Board, headed by the Executive Chairman of the club, will meet the supporters of the club in Kumasi for a mini rally. The rally will be live on our YouTube channel. It is a prelude to our friendly match against Bibiani Gold Stars.”
The planned friendly match versus Bibiani Gold Stars was cancelled due to weather, but the mini rally was held without a hitch at the previously announced location. Notable Board Members like Nyaho Tamakloe, Vincent Odotai Sowah, and Alhaji Akanbi were in attendance.
Phobia Tertiary, a youthful and musical supporters organisation, energized the mood at the Ejisu Forestry Commission Park to empower all supporters who came to the location to hear from the club’s Board Members ahead of the upcoming season.
After some pleasantries from the club to the fans on Sunday afternoon, Togbe Afede XIV stepped up to the podium and suggested the Hearts of Oak players who are a part of the Black Galaxies team that qualified for Algeria 2023 TotalEnergies CHAN in January.
He clarified with the fans why their head coach, Samuel Boadu, resigned from his position as the head coach of Ghana’s U-20 team in July when the previous season came to a close and delivered an enlightening speech to the supporters and all other stakeholders in attendance.
Togbe Afede XIV told the staunch supporters present, “Just like Real Madrid won’t do that, we cannot share our Coach with the national team. We want our technical team to devote 110% of their time to Hearts of Oak. “
