A Ghanaian professional footballer who joined Club Brugge on August 27, 2021, scored his first Champions League goal at the Estádio do Dragão when FC Porto hosted them.
On match day two of the UEFA Champions League, the Ghanaian forward joined other players like Ferran Jutglà, Andrea Skov Olsen and Antonio Nusa to humiliate the Dragões of the Portuguese league.
The 22-year-old Ghanaian player scored the game’s second goal on Tuesday night at the Estadio do Dragão; he was on the score sheet for his club two minutes after the second half began.
At the beginning of the second half, Hoefkens sent the same 11 players onto the field. When Club Brugge made the appropriate choices to advance at the 47th minute, Jutglà pushed the ball through under pressure with excellent technique, and Sowah finished the play well.
In the 52nd minute, Skov Olsen got the third goal for the away team, and Antonio Nusa got the fourth goal, Antonio Nusa, in the 89th minute, scored the last goal of the night before referee Anastasios Sidiropoulos blew the final whistle to end the game.
In addition to scoring a Champions League goal, Kamal Sowah, who was recruited from Leicester City Football Club, made his Belgian Pro League debut for the team in April 2018 in a 2-0 win against Waasland-Beveren and scored his first goal in a 4-0 win against KSV Roeselare in September 2019.
The winger, who hasn’t yet played for Ghana at any level, has already contributed to three goals this year and has twice assisted Jutglà in the Belgian top flight, where his recent performance has attracted attention from Ghanaian sports journalists.
“It was a great moment to score my first goal for Club Brugge and in the Champions League no less! I think I have been working so hard for this opportunity and everything just went our way in this game. It’s not finished yet. It doesn’t stop here, we have the next game coming. And suddenly everyone needs to watch out for us.” He disclosed this in a post-match interview after their win away last night.
